PIOR Living Ghruta is a premium ghee handcrafted from the A2 milk of free range, grass-fed Indian Gir cows. These sacred beings are exclusively nourished with the wild grasses and plants of the Indian Gujarati plains and forests and milked only of their own free will to give priority to the feeding of their calves. PIOR Living Gir cows are never sacrificed or consumed and the breed is generationally sustained. According to Vedic Astronomy, the hump on a Gir cow's back acts as a receiver for the sun's energy and infuses the cow's milk with medicinal gold-bearing rays. PIOR Living uses hand-crafted techniques and a unique aging process to kindle and preserve this life energy. The result is a nourishing and premium sattvic (pure) ghee that is rich in rare minerals, fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, K2, and essential fatty acids. It maintains a smoke point of up to 485 F (252 C).

Suggested Use

Use as a cooking fat, spread, or dressing. Ghruta can also be added to coffee, tea, smoothies, or soup. For enhanced nourishment and detoxification benefits, consume 1 teaspoon on an empty stomach every 12 hours followed by 2 oz of hot water.

    Origin Story

Ghruta is an essential and sacred ingredient and medicine in ayurveda for thousands of years. Ghruta’s name derives from the Sanskrit word “ghrta,” meaning clarified lipid. Its esoteric meaning, however, is ‘Illumined’ due to the ancient kindling process that reveals the life energy hidden in cow milk.

Ghruta is produced using a multi-step, hand-crafted process that has been used traditionally in ayurveda for millennia. The creation of PIOR Living Ghruta begins with free-range Indian Gir cows, whose prominent hump harnesses solar energy, illuminating the organs and fluids with gold-bearing rays. Once the cows give cues to their handlers, the golden milk is (kshira) drawn. Over the following week, the kshira is cultured (dadhi) and separated, at which point the butter (navnita) is further cultured, simmered and separated to create Ghruta (clarified lipid). It is only through this carefully hand-crafted process that the illumination hidden in cows’ milk can be kindled, resulting in the purest lipid molecules.

    Health Benefits

Rich in digestible, fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, including Omega 3s, as well as trace minerals, including gold, Ghruta delivers essential nutrients to the body while nourishing all tissues. As a health rejuvenator, Ghruta builds ojas (vitality) and prana (life force) by stimulating agni (digestive fire) and nourishing all systems in the body - especially enhancing reproductive, cardiovascular, hormonal and cognitive health - while lubricating joints, giving luster to the skin, hair, and nails, and soothing and grounding the nervous system. In addition, because of its superior penetrating qualities, Ghruta is one of the best anupans (carrier substance) for delivering nutrients and medicinal formulas deep into all seven dhatus (tissues) and is superior in cleansing and eliminating ama (impurities) from the body.

Ghruta is primarily used for cooking and consumption. Besides nourishment, Ghruta can aid cleansing and detoxification. It can also be used directly on the skin as a lotion, cream, moisturizer, shaving gel, and treatment for burns and rashes as well as applied to the hair as a moisturizing and shining agent. Ghruta has also been used for thousands of years to cleanse and nourish the eyes, nose, ears, and mouth.

I often make my own ghee but sourcing the highest quality, ethically produced butter is extremely difficult. This Ghruta is not only absolutely delicious it is a product I feel good about, a product I am peace with purchasing and consuming. It will be a staple in my pantry. Love it; thank you PIOR, for this treasure.

First off I want to start of by saying I have never tried any type of clarified butter before. So pior living ghruta is the first. I have only tried it on Naan bread and cornbread so far and I am enjoying it. I will try ghruta next in my chyawanprash with warm milk, since this is sugested to pair the chyawanprash with the ghruta. I am trying to preserve my chyawanprash from pior living because it's the best I have tried so I know the ghruta will pair well with it. Pior living has some really amazing high quality products and I plan on trying some of the newest addition they have just added

    Medicine that Nourishes

Wow — I have used many brands of ghee over the years knowing full well that ghee is a life bearing elixir that will help deepen my body’s receptivity to any herbs or medicines that accompany it. I can FEEL the difference in my deep tissues. I have been taking a teaspoon of Chyawanprash on an empty stomach in the morning and then dissolving a teaspoon of Ghruta in hot water to drink immediately after. I know that it is helping my body build back vital power and I am so grateful for PIOR LIVING to share this formula with the world.
