What is your shipping policy?

Domestic shipping and handling is free for orders over $75. For domestic shipments, please allow 3-4 business days after shipment for your package to arrive. We also ship internationally. Taxes, duties, and customs fees are paid at checkout.

Are your ingredients organic?

Our herbs and spices are either organic or wildharvested, which means that the plants are harvested from their wild habitat.

Where are your herbs sourced from?

Our Chyawanprash herbs are sourced from organic farms and wild jungles throughout India and the botanicals for our supplement line are sourced from organic farms and wild locations through the world.

Why aren't your products certified organic?

Many of the herbs we use are harvested from the wild. Since plants existing in natural environments cannot be certified organic, our products cannot carry an organic seal.

In addition, our Ghruta Ghee is not certified organic because the Gir cows which make our ghee are free to roam the Gir Forest and eat the wild plants and grasses as they please. Organic certification would require feeds to be certified organic and the farmers would have to keep their herds in confined spaces instead of allowing them to roam free.

Ghruta FAQs

What is Ghruta?

Ghruta is a premium cultured ghee handcrafted from grass-fed A2 Gir Cows according to ancient ayurveda traditions.

How is Ghruta different than ghee?

Unlike most commercially-available ghee, which is made from the milk of cows that produce A1 protein milk, and is manufactured by heating butter and straining it, Ghruta is made from free-range, grass-fed A2 Indian Gir cows and is handcrafted in small batches using techniques that honor ayurveda traditions. Read more about the the difference between clarified butter, ghee, Ghruta and Ghrita.

What are the benefits of Ghruta?

Ghruta offers an impressive number of health benefits. It stimulates digestion, boosts immunity, aids in detoxification, supports reproductive and cardiovascular health, builds stronger bones, helps balance the nervous system, and nourishes skin, hair, and nails.

How do you use Ghruta?

There are many ways to use Ghruta, but the most common usage is as a cooking oil or butter when roasting, frying, stir-frying, baking, or sautéing. You can also put it on toast and food or mix it into hot beverages.

Besides nourishment, Ghruta can aid cleansing and detoxification. It can also be used directly on the skin as a lotion, abhyanga oil, moisturizer, shaving gel, anti-aging serum, and treatment for burns and rashes as well as applied to the hair as a moisturizing and shining agent. Ghruta has also been used for thousands of years to cleanse and nourish the eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and feet. Ghruta can also be made into candles to illuminate the home, purify the air, and foster a spiritual and peaceful energy.

Is PIOR Living Ghruta all natural?

Yes, PIOR Living Ghruta is made from free range, grass-fed Indian Gir cows that roam the Gujarati plains and forests of India. We do not use any preservatives.

How is Ghruta stored?

Ghruta is shelf stable, meaning refrigeration is not required. It is required that the label has a “best before date” which is generally 2-3 years, but Ghruta is often intentionally aged, which enhances the taste, smell, and medicinal value over time (the longer it is stored, the whiter in color it will become). In Ayurveda, Ghruta is known to be stored indefinitely; its value increasing the more it is aged. In fact, people can expect to pay a significant amount for 100 or 150 year old Ghruta.

How is Ghruta superior to other oils?

  • Ghruta has a high smoke point of 250 degrees Celsius (482 degrees Fahrenheit), making it ideal for high-heat cooking.
  • Unlike regular butter, Ghruta is non-allergenic due to the production process which removes milk solids like casein and lactose.
  • Ghruta is Ayurveda's favorite fat as it is deeply nourishing and considered a superior carrier oil, meaning it can pass through the lipid membranes of cells, drawing vitamins and minerals from the herbs and food consumed with it deep into the body's tissues.

Why does each batch of Ghruta differ slightly?

PIOR Living Ghruta may also have slight variations in color, texture, and consistency due to:

    • Hand-crafted production techniques - Our Ghruta is carefully crafted in small batches according to ancient Ayurvedic methods.
    • Season - Since our Indian Gir cows are grass-fed and free to roam the Gujarati plains and forests of India, they eat the various wild plants available during each season.
    • Temperature - Ghruta may become more liquid or more solid depending on temperature.

Why does my Ghruta have beige or brown specks or clumps?

Some Ghruta jars may contain beige or brown specks or clumps also known as Kitu! Kitu is said to be very nutritious and auspicious, as it's a sign the ghee has been prepared according to the purest Ayurvedic methods and is seen as a blessing from the Gir cow.

Do your Gir cows come from ahimsa (nonviolent) pastures?

Yes, PIOR Living Gir cows are grass-fed, pasture-raised, and milked by free will, and not by force to give priority to the feeding of calves. In addition, the PIOR Gir cows are never sacrificed or consumed and the breed is generationally sustained.

    Bamboo Salt FAQs

    What is bamboo salt?

Bamboo salt, or Jugyeom, is a very high-quality sea salt harvested from the South Korean coast. Bamboo salt is considered the healthiest salt in the world because it's toxin-free, highly alkaline, and rich in minerals.

What is the difference between Bamboo Salt 9X and 3X?

Both are high-quality types of bamboo salt, but the main difference is that Bamboo Salt 9X, also known as purple bamboo salt, is roasted nine times, whereas Bamboo Salt 3X, also known as gray bamboo salt, is roasted three times. With each firing session, the salt increases in purity, alkalinity, mineral content, and flavor.

What are the benefits of bamboo salt?

Bamboo salt has numerous health benefits, such as alkalizing food and the body, acting as an antioxidant, serving as a source of bioactive minerals, replenishing electrolytes, boosting immune function, and enhancing the nutritive benefits of food.

Why is bamboo salt considered the healthiest and highest-quality salt on earth?

Bamboo salt is regarded as the healthiest and highest-quality salt in the world because it's rich in minerals, highly alkaline, and free of toxins (including microplastics and heavy metals).

What do the medical studies say about bamboo salt?

Bamboo salt has been the subject of many medical studies. In these studies, researchers have found that bamboo salt has antimicrobial properties, improves immune function, has anti-cancer effects, fights skin aging, and may improve oral health (including reducing plaque, whitening teeth, and strengthening enamel).

What are the uses for bamboo salt?

Bamboo salt can be used by itself (a few crystals on the tongue) or in cooking, seasoning, and electrolyte drinks. It also supports better oral, eye, nasal, and skin care.

What are the side effects of bamboo salt?

Bamboo salt has many health benefits, but some people may experience a "healing crisis" and develop temporary side effects when they begin taking it. These may include swelling, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, itching, and hives.

    Why is bamboo salt expensive?

Bamboo salt is more expensive than other types of salt because it's very labor-intensive and time-consuming to make, taking up to a month to produce a batch. Every step (including harvesting and roasting) must be done by hand; even a small mistake can ruin a batch.
