Ashwagandha in Chyawanprash: A Versatile Modern Adaptation

PIOR Living / Chyawanprash / Ashwagandha in Chyawanprash: A Versatile Modern Adaptation

July 14, 2020 by Nigel Ford

Of all the ingredients in modern Chyawanprash, ashwagandha is one of the most versatile. Ashwagandha is part of a class of substances known as adaptogens. Adaptogens are very powerful botanicals that can have different effects depending on your current state of health. Generally, however, they help your body regulate (or adapt to) stress.

This means that they can be both calming and energizing, sometimes both at the same time. They can stimulate libido or bring it to a healthy level. They essentially modulate your system depending on what you’re in need of.

It’s important to note that the use of ashwagandha in Chyawanprash is actually an adaptation. Ashwagandha was not included in the original recipe as it was formulated for Charaka. It’s inclusion in modern formulas is due to the fact certain ingredients from the original recipe have become extinct. Ashwagandha’s benefits fulfill certain medicinal needs previously achieved by extinct herbs.

Here are some of the best reasons to choose Chyawanprash made with ashwagandha.

Regulates stress and improves mental health

The first and foremost use of ashwagandha is to help regulate stress and anxiety. The entire class of adaptogens is named as such because of their fantastic ability to help the body adapt to stress. This makes them especially useful in the modern world, where life is hectic and humanity is faced with more stress than ever before.

Ashwagandha can also be useful for helping to regulate anxiety. It can produce a pronounced sensation of mental calm, which allows you to operate independently of the flurry of anxious mental activity. These same benefits have also proven ashwagandha to be useful for fighting depression.

Boosts energy

Adaptogens help regulate the release of cortisol and support the health of the adrenal glands, preventing fatigue and lifting energy. Ashwagandha has been found to increase serum T4, which enhances thyroid function. Healthy thyroid function is associated with stable energy and mood levels and immune function.

Improves libido

Another benefit of ashwagandha Chyawanprash is its ability to help improve libido. Ashwagandha has been used for centuries to help enhance libido for both men and women. In larger doses, it seems to be very useful for men, but in the doses used in Chyawanprash it can be equally useful for both men and women.

Improves strength and endurance

Another function of adaptogens is boosting strength and endurance. Similar to the way adaptogens help you cope with mental and emotional stress, they also help you adapt to physical stress. This allows you to push yourself harder than you would be able to otherwise and helps to facilitate good health and bodily repair after being overworked.

Boosts testosterone

One of the reasons that ashwagandha is often prescribed to men is because of its ability to boost testosterone. However, it should be known that testosterone is important for women, as well. The testosterone boost provided by ashwagandha generally isn’t enough to cause unwanted side effects. Rather, it helps boost libido and can increase muscle mass and muscle tone, especially if you’re working out.

Helps regulate blood sugar

Ashwagandha has also been used to help people regulate blood sugar. This makes it a beneficial component in the diets of anyone at risk of developing diabetes.

These are just a few of the reasons ashwagandha is included in modern Chyawanprash formulations.  Ashwagandha Chyawanprash formulations are powerful and especially helpful for modern stress needs.
