Best Way To Take Chyawanprash

PIOR Living / Chyawanprash / Best Way To Take Chyawanprash

August 27, 2019 by Amanda

Chyawanprash is an ancient and natural polyherbal jam that can generally be consumed at any time and with a variety of substances. However, for maximum efficacy, there are certain methods, times of day and dosages to consider. See below for common questions and answers on the best way to take Chyawanprash.

How To Take Chyawanprash

By itself

Taking Chyawanprash straight off the spoon without food or liquids is the preferred method. That’s because Chyawanprash’s nutrients and benefits are delivered deeper into the body’s tissues when digestion is minimal. It’s important to note that Chyawanprash should not be suddenly swallowed, but consumed slowly. The word “Chyawanprash” derives from two Sanskrit words: “Chyawan,” the name of the sage who developed the formula, and “prash,” which signifies the importance of consuming food artfully and intentionally.

Chyawanprash with hot water

Taking Chyawanprash with or in hot water is the next ideal method of consumption. Hot water serves as an anupan, or carrier substance, to take the nutrients deeper into the channels and tissues of the body. Simply stir Chyawanprash into hot water and drink as tea or consume hot water after your spoonful of Chyawanprash.

Chawanprash and milk

Drinking Chyawanprash with or in milk (A2, goat, coconut, almond, etc.) is one of the more popular ways to consume Chyawanprash in India. In fact, it’s so popular that many people don’t know that Chyawanprash can be taken without milk. The benefits of taking Chyawanprash with milk is that it serves as an anupan. The milk can either be warm or cold, but warm temperatures generally serve Vata and Kapha doshas better while cooler temperatures work well for Pitta doshas.

Chyawanprash with food

Some people like to consume Chyawanprash like a jam and spread it on toast, bread or crackers, or mix into porridge; however, the strength of this supplement may be lessened when eaten with food.
