4 Ways to Improve Your Yoga Practice

PIOR Living / Yoga Life & Reflections / 4 Ways to Improve Your Yoga Practice

July 19, 2019 by Joseph Oliveto

If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you already know that yoga can be a very powerful form of exercise. It can also be very physically demanding. That’s why, to take full advantage of it, it helps to keep certain tips in mind.

The following points are particularly worth remembering. They’ll help you improve your yoga performance, recuperate more effectively, and take full advantage of your practice.

Consume Chyawanprash

Your body needs key nutrients to operate at its peak. That’s why it’s a good idea to consume chyawanprash. This ancient Ayurvedic formula contains nutrients chosen to boost your health in many ways, including improving digestion, boosting sexual health and strengthening the immune system. There’s also reason to believe it promotes improved cognitive functioning.

That makes chyawanprash a great addition to your diet if you practice yoga. By keeping your body healthy, you’ll recover from sessions more quickly, and perform better in general.

However, it’s important to get a sugar free chyawanprash formula or one that uses low amounts of natural sugars, like jaggery and/or honey. Consuming too much refined sugar can yield negative health effects, counteracting the benefits of chyawanprash. PIOR offers a refined sugar free chyawanprash and the jaggery and honey it does use is included for medicinal value.

Practice Breathing Exercises

Again, it’s no secret that yoga can be a vigorous workout. While it certainly qualifies as a gentle form of exercise in that it’s low impact, and tends to focus on slow, steady movements, that doesn’t mean it can’t be exhausting.

You’re less likely to tire yourself out during a yoga session if you practice the right breathing exercises. By breathing into your abdomen slowly through your nose, holding your breath for a moment, and breathing out slowly through your mouth, all while focusing on your breath as it grounds you in the present moment, you’ll find it’s much easier to complete a session.

Be Gentle with Yourself

Yoga is about making gradual but substantial improvements. It’s a type of exercise you can practice throughout life.

Thus, you shouldn’t feel discouraged if you’re struggling to assume a certain pose. You also definitely shouldn’t force yourself. Trying to assume a pose that’s proving very difficult may lead to injury. In the long run, you’re much better off being gentle with yourself. Accept your current limitations, celebrate your current abilities, and remember that you can and will improve over time.

Stay Hydrated

This may seem like an obvious point, but in our fast-paced world, it’s easy to forget the essential role that hydration plays in your overall health and strength.

Don’t make this mistake. Drinking enough water throughout the day will support your wellness and improve your performance during yoga sessions. Additionally, because you can mix chyawanprash (sugar free) in with warm water, drinking water more often throughout the day provides you with more opportunities to take advantage of this powerful healing formula.

Yoga is incredibly rewarding. It’s even more rewarding when you take these steps. By drinking enough water, consuming chyawanprash sugar free, breathing properly, and not being hard on yourself when you face challenges, you’ll truly enjoy all the major benefits yoga has to offer. Those benefits can stay with you throughout life.
